The Fine Art of Falling: A conversation with Sharpe & Jones

5 November 2026

Having just dropped their latest single, ‘The One To Fall,’ there seemed no better time to sit down with Swedish duo, Sharpe & Jones to find out how they came together, about the new single and where things go next.

Hi, can we start with a bit of background? How did the two of you come to work together, and what has the path to this point looked like?

We first met when Albin (Allmyr) came to give a lecture at Elvin (Schäder)’s music program in 2025. The program had only just started, but Elvin felt he wanted to reach higher, so he contacted Albin privately. After some more correspondence, we agreed to meet in the studio, with the idea that Albin would teach him more about production. It turned into an unforgettable session instead, and the day our first single “Kryptonite” was written. That marks the starting point of Sharpe & Jones, and we both felt it was the beginning of something big.

Because of both work and school, our time was limited, so the only solution was to work at night. We often sat in the studio until the sun came up. That is one of the things that defines Sharpe & Jones: a drive and a will to create that goes beyond everything else.

During those nights, this single, “The One To Fall”, was created along with more songs. One of the others was “Friends Forever”, which made it to the final of the local competition P4 Nästa Stjärna.

Regarding your latest single, ‘The One To Fall’, for those who haven’t heard it yet, can you describe the sound and nature of the song?

“The One To Fall” conveys strong feelings of nostalgia and of leaving something behind, whether that is another person, who you used to be, or a place you hold dear. The song is acoustic, and we feel it is some of the best we have written.

We chose not to have too many elements on this particular song, to let the lyrics and the melody take centre stage. That creates an intimate feeling, as if you are in the same room as Elvin and the piano. One special thing about the song is its form: no section comes twice, which is unusual in pop.

There is a very poignant message found running through the lyrics; can you explain what you are saying with the song and how you were inspired to write it?

The lyrics were written by Elvin and were inspired by feelings that came out of past relationships. The song is about feeling alone and not understood in a relationship. You see the other person being deeply hurt because of who you are, and you know you can’t change yourself. You don’t know what to do about it either. This leads to you taking it out on yourself instead, and in the end you are the one who gets hurt the most, hence the title “The One To Fall”.

Who else helped bring this song to life?

It was made only by Elvin Schäder and Albin Allmyr, in other words, Sharpe & Jones. It was written and recorded by Elvin Schäder. Production, mixing and mastering were done by Albin Allmyr. That is usually how we work. It gives us great creative freedom, and it also means we have control over the whole process.

Where do things go next for Sharpe & Jones?

First of all, we have 3 finished songs on the way out! We are also excited about writing Christmas music. We are working hard on content for social media too, and we have big plans for the visual side, so that we can give listeners a look into our world. Stay tuned!
