Silktail is pleasingly loud, blown-out-speaker, hard-hitting melodic alt-rock from Lansing, Michigan. The vocals and delivery recall a blend of mid-90’s emo bands while the band’s musical roots could be traced back to Husker Du and Dinosaur Jr. Naturally channeling their influences, the band released their debut EP “salt” in 2019, a limited 7inch “Vapor” in 2021 and now have their debut LP “In Your Own Shade” coming late spring 2022 on Setterwind Records.
Clarity, the first single from “In Your Own Shade” is a pleasantly melancholic meditation on clearing your head. With dueling guitar melodies weaving in and out of each other and an ear worm bass line, it’s hard not to get lost in the current. The song sees the band exploring their softer side without losing the driving backbone of their previous work as the drums carry you through the ebbs and flows with ease. It’s got a vocal melody you’ll find yourself humming for days, compelling you to give it one more spin. A great fit on almost any playlist, “Clarity” is just the right song to get stuck in our heads as we anticipate the full album out later this spring.
