If your looking for an upbeat, meditative tune to pair with your morning coffee, look no further than this light-filled gem from The Camino Side Project. Multi-instrumentalist Paul Farran and his wife quit their UN jobs to backpack with their young kids on a half-year trip from Africa to South East Asia and onwards to Europe, documenting their inspirations and introspection’s through song. The material eventually became a global musical journal of 11 songs recorded in 11 countries, entitled of music & movement.
The Big Takeover is thrilled to premiere the debut lead-off single “Vilma’s Soundtrack” ahead of the album, which comes out on November 16th. It’s a warm, slow-burning ballad, imbued with a layered array of chiming acoustics. The vibe is effortlessly inviting, with Farran’s deep, Cohen-esque voice lovingly couched in his wife’s breezy harmonies. The voices meld with each other, creating a cocoon of glowing intonation that carries the song into a whimsical mandolin coda.
