Wilmington, Delaware-based dream-pop/indie folk/piano rock singer-songwriter Gina Graves wields an richly expressive and ethereal voice that has captivated all who listen to her music. Graves has been working and receiving acclaim as a professional singer, composer, and musician for two decades.

Graves is now announcing a new chapter in her personal and artistic continuum with the bold and vulnerable And We Rise, a compelling album that connects her life’s work to embolden others to value themselves in the world and her dedication to pursuing truth in music.

The songs on And We Rise are stirring and soothing and informed by classical, ambient music, pop, and jazz. The LP swirls with cinematic grandeur, haunting ambience, dreamy harmonious vocals, classical-tinged musical motifs, soaring climaxes, and enlightening personal revelations. Graves’ lyrics brim full of messages of hope, redemption, gratitude, connection, dreams, and, ultimately, spiritual love.

The album was recorded in Graves’ home with Logic, where she played everything but the real drums, which were tracked by her brother Rich. And We Rise was mixed by Grammy-winning producer Phil Nicolo (Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Sting, James Taylor) whose thoughtful touch lends it a lush vibrancy.

The songs on And We Rise flowed through Graves and offer a wellspring of transformative truths. “The title is about overcoming the ego, and embracing beauty and love, personally and universally speaking,”, Graves states.

The Big Takeover is highly pleased to host the premiere of the beautiful and whimsical video for “Glide”. Graves expertly weaves acoustic folk and orchestral/piano pop into an uplifting number that’s graced by her enthralling and emotive vocals.

The charming and creative video from Cecile Noldus mixes stop-motion animation and hand-drawn designs that are perfectly matched to the song’s lyrics. The figure of Graves made from fabric, paper, string, and maybe some clay, singing and strumming her acoustic folk guitar at the start of the video, make way for Graves pedaling her bicycle uphill and reaching the summit.

This peak is her point of departure into another world and mindset (a release of sorts visualized by Graves gliding into the sky on her bike), one that is filled with a natural environment of sweetly drawn and also sewn-fabric flowers, birds, and butterflies – and even an amusing floating banana!
