The album of 11 original songs, released on their own Secret Monkey Records, was recorded at Mitch Easter’s Fidelitorium Recordings and was engineered, produced and mixed by Don Dixon (R.E.M., the Smithereens).
The band is comprised of longtime North Carolina Americana singer-guitarist Jefferson Hart (the Hanks, Jeff Hart & the Ruins, Ghosts of the Old North State) and his daughters, 14-year-old singer/drummer Lila and singer/bassist Ella. They formed the band when the girls were in grade school.
Secret Monkey Weekend are currently playing the North Carolina circuit and are scheduled to join North Carolina legend Hope Nicholls, former Fetchin Bones’ lead singer, playing with her combo It’s Snakes in June. Secret Monkey Weekend also plan to support Southern Culture on the Skids, the Connells and others in the coming months, and will play their own shows across the region this spring and summer.
