Rising singer-songwriter Charlotte Morris is opening up like never before in her new album both sides, and we’re thrilled to be premiering the full project exclusively on The Big Takeover before its official release on streaming platforms. Through 13 carefully crafted tracks, both sides takes listeners on a journey through the highs and lows of life, love, loss, and self-discovery. With emotional depth and poetic clarity, Morris captures the essence of human complexity, the joy and grief, chaos and clarity, heartbreak and healing that define our experiences.

Inspired by Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now,” which closes the album as a tender cover, Morris explores what it means to live in contradiction:

“As we juggle so many aspects of life, grapple with the different perspectives and beliefs we might hold as we evolve and grow… as we weigh the best parts of ourselves against the worst, ultimately, we’re all just trying to figure out who we are. both sides is a self-examination and deconstruction of me. The messy, the petty, the joyful, the hopeful, all pieces of my lived experience to date. All pieces that add up to make me the flawed and stubborn, yet independent and resilient woman that I am.”

From the powerful lead single “raised by a woman” to the quietly cathartic “living & loving” and the deeply personal “maine,” each track reads like a page from Morris’s diary. Standouts like “as is” and “neighborhood bar” offer glimpses of lightness, self-acceptance, and community, while “stronger than before” emerges as an anthem of resilience.

Recorded at The Castle Studios in Nashville with producer William Gawley and mastered by Sage Audio, the album’s warm production and lived-in sound reflect Morris’s folk roots and emotional storytelling. With her signature multi-instrumental talent and rich lyricism, she brings listeners into a world that’s simultaneously specific and universal.

A Philadelphia native, Morris began her musical journey with violin lessons at age four before teaching herself guitar, piano, ukulele, and banjo. Influenced by the likes of Brandi Carlile, Sara Bareilles, and The Chicks, she’s carved out a niche as an introspective, unapologetically candid songwriter with a growing national presence. With past projects like Songs For My Next Ex and Wild Child behind her, both sides represents a new chapter, one of reflection, maturity, and quiet power. Now embarking on the both sides Tour, Morris is connecting with audiences across the country. She hopes the album will help others explore their own dualities and find strength in vulnerability.

“There are so many sides of life. And those sides keep changing. And truthfully, we don’t have control over any of it. So by putting all of these parts of myself out there, even if unflattering at times, I hope they can resonate and bring solidarity to everyone else who, just like me, is trying to figure out what it means to be human. And, from up and down, win and lose, give and take, what it means to truly live.”
