My Dead Air is Dan Ballard, former guitarist (with brother Josh) of the L.A-based alt-rock band Until June, which scored a number-one hit in Greece (“Sleepless”, 2008). After several albums and EPs, and US and world tours, things began to slow down for Until June. Ballard started My Dead Air as a side project but soon it became his main musical outlet.
The Thief Who Knows My Name is Ballard’s first full-length solo album, preceded by two EPs. Mixing was handled by Guy Massey (famed for his work on the Grammy Award-winning restoration of The Beatles back catalogue), as well as Bryan Cook (Radiohead) and Ryan Lipman (Keith Urban, Glen Campbell). Guest musicians include top session drummer Aaron Sterling (Taylor Swift, John Mayer) and bassist Dave Beste (Rival Sons).
Reflecting the influence of Harry Nilsson, Campbell, George Harrison, Bon Iver, and My Morning Jacket, among others, The Thief Who Knows My Name will be released August 14 on vinyl and digital. We love the lush, mellow sound of this LP!
