The Deltahorse is an alternative blues three-piece spearheaded by Berlin resident Sash, who started creating music inspired by one man’s characteristic style: former Morphine saxophonist Dana Colley. In 2011, after finding out at the last minute that Colley was playing a show in Slovakia, Sash rented a car and raced across three countries in less than nine hours to meet Colley. The project moved forward, but it wasn’t until this year when Sash met Sydney singer-songwriter TJ Eckleberg, who had just relocated to Berlin, that the band’s lineup and distinctive sultry, bass-driven sound was solidified.
The group has recorded a four-song self-titled EP, which they are releasing digitally today, that brings to mind Berlin-era Bowie and Beck’s hodgepodge style. We’re BIG fans of Morphine here, so we’re stoked to offer this exclusive listen to the new record. Enjoy!
