Led by the magnetic Ellie Linden, Odd-Pop Quartet Das Body make a triumphant return with their eagerly anticipated sophomore album, True Vulture. The album, showcased by the vibrant lead single ‘Ordah’, reaffirms Das Body’s ability to capture the electrifying energy of their live performances and translate it seamlessly into a vibrant and raw studio recording.
Working alongside producer Erlend Mokkelbost, the latest offering marks the Oslo 4 piece’s exhilarating journey to expand the boundaries of their unique ‘odd-pop’ flair. Drawing inspiration from a mixtape of woozy electronics, soulful R&B, the edgy edges of post-punk, and the undeniable swagger of pop, True Vulture is an album infused with heightened emotions and pop-hooks that surpass any of their previous endeavours.
Speaking about ‘Ordah’, they said, “‘Ordah’ is the coolest track on the album. It might not have the deepest lyrics or the most virtuoso playing, but the attitude is just perfect for us. We whipped it up in one night: all of us with our own instruments, and Patrik had the nerve to throw in some rap, after a few beers. Since we don’t have a dedicated bassist in the band, we recorded the idea without bass. Later on, Kim sat down at the piano and came up with this super groovy bassline for the chorus. We were kinda awestruck by our own vibe, so we hit the town and partied like tomorrow didn’t exist – now we knew we had at least ONE banger on the album.”
