New Jersey Eclectic Alt Rock Band Fair Panic pulls a fast one covering the great 90’s shoegaze forerunners, Cocteau Twins! New Jersey supergroup Fair Panic has been gaining traction through New Jersey and the tristate area, even stretching into cities in Pennsylvania. Comprised of star players, from bands such as THOSE MOCKINGBIRDS, PALACE HOUND, MYTHOLOGY, TWIN HOOK, TABITHA BOOTH, and MARLOWE GREY, earthquakes aren’t the only thing rumbling in the garden state.
FAIR PANIC’s recent covered release of “Heaven or Las Vegas” by Cocteau twins comes flying out of left field with early 90s lush, pop shoegaze tones and beautiful vocals by front vocalist and originator Tory Anne Daines, even sporting unique sounds on a 5-string violin. The track itself has been a hit and honestly a must see live, as it is a whole other experience, magnified by sounds you didn’t know you needed! In addition to the track, the band is releasing a sort of “vibes” music video. Funny enough, guitar player for the band Aaron Rodriguez comprised the video solely of random footage from his phone camera roll. Unprepared but artistically wearing it on their sleeves, you get a uniquely personal taste of what can be done with just a little artistic vision. “A taste of my camera roll” according to Rodriguez.
(A-Rod) Rodriguez has a bit of film experience as he has filmed a few reels and music videos for bands like Jersey’s own THE REVEL and TWIN HOOK (the guitarist and lead vocalist). What started as a visualizer became more of a pet project of the band. “There’s something interesting about creating a product out of nothing… sometimes!” – Rodriguez
With a new line up as well as louder and sometimes more aggressive tunes, this revamped FAIR PANIC is a refreshing revival of the great days of the late 90s through the mid 2000s. FP has been described in the vein of Yeah Yeah Yeahs meet Kasabian, with their use of an orchestra, and even a splash of “janes addiction-like” soaring guitars and delays. The band is currently working with John Agnello, who is mixing their upcoming release. They’re ready to shake the northeast and beyond in 2024. With no slowdown in sight, FP is a must see. “Come dance with us!”
