We love fireworks — and we really love guitars! This sparkly new video from famed underground producer/musician Wharton Tiers puts the two together, just in time to celebrate our nation’s independence. Kaboom!
This song, “Shoe Nu,” is from the new Wharton Tiers Ensemble LP Freedom Now!, recently released on Tiers’ own Fun City NYC label. It’s the first release in 14 years from the all-instrumental, massed-guitars group, whose ranks include current and former members of the Glenn Branca Ensemble, New Radiant Storm King and The Sharp Things.
Wharton Tiers exploded onto the ’70s No Wave scene as a member (with Branca) of Theoretical Girls, but he’s best known for producing seminal works by Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Helmet, White Zombie, Biohazard and many, many more at his Fun City recording studio in NYC.
