Istanbul, Turkey-based Reptilians From Andromeda definitely take no prisoners with their debut album, Dialogues For Monkeys. It’s not quite so easy for a band based in Istanbul as it is for one in London or the USA. Everything is difficult, from access to equipment, to places to play in. And to be an edgy, outspoken, left-field, no wave garage punk outfit needs real commitment, and a whole lot of nerve – if not outright bravery.
At the forefront of the Turkish underground scene, the band is blisteringly noisy, exciting, subversive, and dangerously unhinged at times, but with a killer instinct for catchy pop hooks. Which is why we love ‘em!
Dialogues For Monkeys releases today, January 22nd via Czech label Prof Sny Vinyl. The LP was mixed and mastered by famed UK producer Fran Ashcroft – whose credits include Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) and Paul Cook (Sex Pistols) – and the album artwork was done by renowned Canadian comic book artist Darren Merinuk.
Reptilians From Andromeda deliver ten songs about life, death, truth and lies, love, lust, and drugs that tell the tale of defiance and revolution in the face of repression and conformity.
