News: The Vibrators: The Epic Years 1976-78 box set via Cherry Red Records

Seminal UK punk band The Vibrators gets its due with the 4-CD box set The Vibrators: The Epic Years 1976-78, slated for release via Cherry Red Records on March 31st, coinciding with the band’s 40th anniversary.

This 4 CD box set includes all of the band’s recordings for Epic Records between 1976-78, including sessions for the BBC. Disc 1 is the debut Pure Mania classic, which hit #49 in the UK National Charts, and includes the seminal “Baby Baby” 45.

Disc 2 is the V2 album which charted at #33 in 1978 and includes the hit singles “Automatic Lover” (#35) and “Judy Says” (#70). The 3rd disc comprises three sessions recorded for the legendary John Peel show on BBC Radio and they are joined by the four tracks that the band performed on the Old Grey Whistle Test TV show.

The last disc sees the band in concert from the London Marquee, in the summer of `77 at the height of the punk rock explosion. The full 19 track raw mixing desk version of the show was used – so much better than the overdubbed truncated version that’s in circulation!

Record Collector’s Shane Baldwin has provided sleeve notes with contributions from the band while the booklet also features pictures of all of their releases from the period.

The current line-up of The Vibrators will be supporting this 4 CD box set while on their regular touring schedule across the UK and Europe.
