Curling
Cross-continental songwriting duo Bernie Gelman and Joseph Brandel first met in high school and have been fusing their own unique musical sensibilities ever since. “Precious Coffee Moments” is the new single from their band Curling, dropping September 24 on Royal Oakie Records.
Gelman operates out of Austin, TX while Brandel currently resides in Japan. Covering a ton of stylistic ground, the band veers from the bittersweet jangle of power-pop, to rustic indie-folk, fuzzy shoegaze, Midwestern emo, and much more. 2024 was a busy year for the band, with the release of No Guitar (Deluxe Edition) and Radio King/Mallow (Stereo) on Royal Oakie Records, as well as two tours of Japan.
In addition to Gelman, Brandel, and drummer Kynwyn Sterling, the track features contributions from David Adamiak, Graham Patzner, and Alex Little.
Featuring ample studio experimentation, the new single bridges the gap between Big Star, XTC, and Yes. Produced by Bernie Gelman and Joseph Brandel, the track was engineered and mixed by Ian Pellicci at Brothers Chinese Recording, with additional engineering by Jay Pellicci and David Glasebrook.
