Kit Major knows what she wants — and she knows how to get it. The Los Angeles-based rocker has been steadily building toward the release of her upcoming EP Miss Ego, due June 12 via Futureless, carving out a space that feels entirely her own.
At its core, Miss Ego is a sharp, self-aware exploration of identity and femininity — and, more pointedly, how much space a woman is allowed to take up: onstage, in relationships, within the rock scene, and beyond. The project itself emerged from a moment of creative friction. Faced with two songs orbiting the same idea — “there’s no room in bed for Miss Ego” — Major leaned into the tension rather than resolving it. The phrase became a thesis, and eventually, the foundation of the entire EP.
Today, she premieres the title track, “Miss Ego,” a punchy, no-frills burst of punk energy that leans into attitude, hooks, and a sense of defiance. It’s sharp, cheeky, and fully in control.
“‘Miss Ego’ is a sleek and cheeky song about how much space a girl can take up in relationships, on stage, and her place in the world,” Major explains.
That ethos runs through everything she does. With Kit Major, girls aren’t an afterthought — they’re front and center.
“Miss Ego” arrives May 15. Miss Ego the EP follows on June 12 via Futureless.
