The Big Takeover premieres Australian folk-soul artist Ruby Alexander’s latest single “All This Time Together,” out everywhere July 29. Following this song, Ruby has singles and an upcoming project on the way.
“All This Time Together” was written in April 2025 in Ruby’s Brooklyn apartment, while she was in her final semester of college at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. After writing the song, she brought it to a rehearsal to show her band, and they played it the following week at the EP release show for Dali Rose’s “Heaven,” also with Milehin, in downtown Manhattan. Since then, it’s always the song she ends her sets with, because it reaches people in a particular, emotional way.
Everything (apart from the vocal) was recorded at The Bunker Studio in Williamsburg, engineered by Grammy-award winning producer John Davis. The recording listeners hear was played as one full take, with all musicians, who are some of Ruby’s closest friends as well as her band members, in one room playing together. Ruby recorded the lead & backing vocals, and together with her partner and fellow artist Drake Hunt, mixed the song across multiple sessions in winter of this year in Gowanus, Brooklyn, completing the track.
