Illinois indie singer/songwriter Trevor Sensor presents the second single “Heaven’s A Big Disgrace” from his forthcoming album A Few Tears of Eros. Available May 23rd, the raucous Southern rocker warns of the dangers of fame. Trevor sings: “Cause I can see it in your face/ Heaven’s a big disgrace / Oh, you still got your shine / Underneath the dirt and grime”.
Through the cautionary tale of a fictional starlet fatale, he paints a picture of the downside of celebrity, and shakes his fist at those who succumb to societal pressures. In the traditions of folk rockers like Dylan, Petty, and Waits, Sensor marries captivating rock hooks with poignant lyrics that often address social issues and the human experience. Because the best folk artists are mirrors, not finger-waggers.
“We live in a world founded on utility where we’re prodded to prioritize production and accumulating symbols of wealth,” says Trevor. “Some folks ask me if I’m still doing music because clearly I haven’t made a dime from it. I say, ‘of course’, and they’re bewildered. They’re unable to comprehend my freedom.”
Trevor Sensor released his debut EP Texas Girls and Jesus Christ in 2016 on Jagjaguwar. It was followed by Andy Warhol’s Dream, a “chameleon” (Consequence) of an album that seamlessly blends psychedelic folk, Americana and indie rock. In 2021, he returned with On Account of Exile Vol. 1 & Vol. 2, an “infinitely rewarding…” (Americana UK) collection. After a four year hiatus, he returns with A Few Years of Eros (High Black Desert Records) on August 8th.
