Jagular is ear candy from Nashville, Tennessee. Words for the heart and mind. Sounds for the senses. In 2005, Justin DeRosa lived directly above a new developing band in the student housing that was assigned to him (regular occurrence in Nashville). In that band were drummer Thomas Doeve and guitarist Chase Gregory. Fast forward nearly 13 years. Through multiple bands and albums. Through many years of being roommates and friends outside of a joint musical entity. Through growing pains and trials. Through immense and profound blessing. We arrive at Jagular.
The band’s album TUT TUT was released near the end of October and was produced, engineered, and mixed by DeRosa and Doeve. The LP was mastered by Nathan Dantzler at The Hit Lab.
The single “Move” is an explosive tune from Jagular. The song travels to many destinations from alt-rock verses and synthwave choruses to a stadium rock instrumental breakdown. The group sounds like some kind of mix between MGMT and The Strokes. Their sound and energy is completely singular, giving them a unique distinction from other bands coming out of Nashville. Jagular sounds totally new, but still provides emotional familiarity through heartfelt lyricism.
