Serfs began in 2011 after singer and guitarist Phil Pucci moved back to Charlotte, North Carolina, following a stint living on the west coast, and into a house with other founding members and longtime friends, guitarist David Scanlon and bassist Patrick Doherty. In early 2013, upon parting ways with their original drummer and in the midst of a series of breakups with his ex-girlfriend, Pucci began to write the songs that would end up on Day Hang, the band’s debut full-length album.
The second single from the LP, “Slowpoke” is an epic slab of shoegaze, a slow, relentless tidal wave of woozy guitars. Turn it up.
Day Hang comes out next Friday on Self Aware Records; the band plans to celebrate with a show at Petra’s Piano Bar in Charlotte. They’ll be trudging up to NYC for a gig March 16 at Cake Shop. We’re marking our calendars.
