Brooklyn-based alt-rock band Sub*T is thrilled to announce the release of their new single “Shed,” a standout track from their forthcoming EP, Spring Skin out June 20 on If This Then Records. The band describes “Shed” as an anthemic and energetic track that encapsulates the essence of SubT’s sound.
“This is anthemic sh*t for us and was always going to be a standout track. This feels like classic, tried and true Sub*T—fun, bubbly, fast, loud. You’re disappointed by a situation but you can scream gleefully about it because THANK GOD THAT’S OVER. We always knew this song would be highlighted because of the burst of energy it gives, especially for us when we play it live. It came into existence so easily too, it immediately had a life of its own,” said the band.
Formed in 2019, Sub*T is fronted by self-taught musicians Grace Bennett and Jade Alcantara. The band draws inspiration from classic 90s female-driven rock, creating fuzzy, energetic songs reminiscent of Veruca Salt, Garbage, and Hole. Following their debut EP, So Green, produced by Bully’s Alicia Bognanno, Sub*T has performed across New York and supported sold-out shows for acts like The Linda Lindas and Hinds.
The band’s new EP, Spring Skin, was produced and recorded by Aron Kobayashi Ritch (Momma) at Studio G in Brooklyn. With Aron’s vision and expertise, Sub*T was able to achieve the sound they envisioned for this new chapter in their musical journey.
“We are in bloom, and our Spring Skin EP is a testament to our growth. Our new collection of songs examines lust and desire, values the courage in moving on, wonders about loneliness, and celebrates evolving into different versions of yourself for the better. Just a little sentimental,” said Jade and Grace about Spring Skin.
