The North Country, an experimental pop band known for their vibrant music and raucous shows, is thrilled to announce the release of their latest single, “San Antonio Pot Brownies.” The track is a tantalizing preview of their upcoming album, The Future’s Is All We Need, set to drop on April 26 via House of Joy but available for pre-order right now.
Written by the band’s frontman, Andrew Grossman, “San Antonio Pot Brownies” captures the essence of self-discovery and embracing life’s uncertainties. Grossman reflects, “This song is me coming out of that and concluding that there are no answers, and the best way to live is to just try to have a good time. That seems to work well.” The track was conceived during a day off on tour with Sean Barna SXSW tour in 2019, with Grossman indulging in a pot brownie while staying at a friend’s house in San Antonio.
“San Antonio Pot Brownies” follows the release of the album’s singles “Be Here Be Now” and “The Invisible Hand,” both of which are already making waves on streaming platforms. “The Invisible Hand” showcases the band’s signature blend of complex arrangements, danceable rhythms, and blistering political commentary. With vocal accompaniments from singers Margot Macdonald and Laurel Halsey, the track highlights the band’s dedication to shedding light on societal injustices.
An experimental pop collective led by Andrew Grossman, Washington, D.C.’s The North Country has become synonymous with catchy indie-pop earworms and electrifying live performances. Their music delves into themes of digital fatigue, heartbreak, and socio-political critique aimed at the elite. With each song, The North Country challenges listeners to think critically while keeping them moving on the dance floor.
The band is also announcing a record release show at The Black Cat in Washington, DC with Mystery Friends. Get your tickets here.
