A Little Night Music is the second solo album by New Zealander Jonathan Bree, formerly of Sub Pop band The Brunettes. Whereas the Brunettes were a more bubblegum Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazelwood project, Bree’s solo material has a darker more sinister approach, while still being influenced by orchestral pop from the 1960s.
According to Bree, the tune “is a straight up catchy love song inspired by a cheesy line delivered by the charmingly perverted character Adam from Girls.”
He adds: “This video really highlights my amazing (not amazing) acting abilities. They filmed me sitting inside a box in front of a green screen while the Mukpuddy guys directed me to react to things. Everything was drawn post my filming.”
