All India Radio is the brainchild of Australia’s Martin Kennedy. With an ever-changing line-up of musicians and collaborators, Kennedy and All India Radio have been turning out cinematic and atmospheric downbeat music since 1999.
All India Radio’s downtempo chill-gaze music has been featured in CSI: Miami, One Tree Hill, The Lying Game, the UK’s long running Emmerdale, feature film The Rare Earth and many more. Kennedy is also known for his acclaimed collaborations with Steve Kilbey from The Church.
Four years in the making, The Slow Light is All India Radio’s tenth studio album, and their return to the Minty Fresh label. The album also features the return of Selena Cross, who sang on the band’s fan-favorite track “Four Three” from the Minty Fresh album Echo Other (2006), and the vocal debut of Kennedy’s twelve-year-old daughter Hollie Houlihan-McKie on the track “Galaxy of Light”.
Released on April 15 (buy it here), The Slow Light features cover artwork by 1960s visionary artist Victor Atkins (who won the 1969 Society of Illustrators Illustrator Award for his striking Miles in The Sky Miles Davis LP cover). This is the first LP cover Atkins has produced since the 1970s.
Directed by Łukasz Pytlik (Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Scott Matthews), the video for “Dark Star” is a luminous, sylvan fantasy that perfectly complements the music. Enjoy!
