It would be wrong to dismiss alt-pop group Deep Blue Something as one-hit wonders – the Texas quintet just released a pretty darn great new studio record called Lunar Phase. We are excited to have the exclusive video premiere for album standout “Saint Morrissey” for you today.

Although you might not recognize the name of the band, it’s more than likely that you know for their tune “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. The song was a global hit in 1995, culminating with a U.K. #1. While Deep Blue Something’s music encompasses a range of styles, from dream-pop to alternative rock, it’s their undeniable pop sheen and knack for infectious hooks that lead to performances with other 90’s icons like Oasis, Letters To Cleo, Alanis Morrisette, and Spin Doctors.

After going on hiatus in the early 2000’s, the band reunited in 2014 to perform a series of live shows. They released an EP called Locust House in 2020. The enthusiastic reception the band received stoked their creative fires, and they began recording Lunar Phase in 2024.

Lunar Phase draws inspiration from the era in which their musical journey began. The record sounds like it was recorded in 1992! So, if you miss the glory days of jangly guitar bands, Lunar Phase is sure to satisfy. The band has been playing around as well, so give them follow on social media so you can catch them when they come around.

Regarding “Saint Morrissey”, Todd Pipes (vocals and bass) tells us:

“The song came into being after waking up one day to find that the world seemed to have turned its back on Morrissey. The once cherished voice of the introvert and the misunderstood, had been summarily dismissed and disposed-of. One of the strangest aspects of his attempted cancellation is that most people who claim to now hate him also readily admit to still loving his music… The point of the song isn’t suggesting that everyone needs to agree with Morrissey, or his positions, but merely that everyone should be careful, or the mob will eventually devour itself.”
