Cape Snow is a cross-country collaboration between Los Angeles-based singer Bree Scanlon and members of the long- running, Portsmouth, New Hampshire-based band Tiger Saw. There’s a back story extending to 2001, when Bree and her now-husband, drummer Sean Scanlon, were members of Tiger Saw — but you can do the research yourself. We’d rather focus on how perfectly gorgeous this song is, and how Bree’s tender vibrato breaks our heart. The aching lyrics struck us, too:
Nobody’s god will love you like I do
Their love’s a whisper unworthy of you
Still you worship and you pine
And you long as though you’re a child
Because you’re flesh and blood
Nobody knows this pain I hold so deep
My love’s a fire diminished by your beliefs
Still I hold you in my thin arms
Walk beside you, succumb to your charms
Because I’m flesh and blood
Nobody knows if heaven’s even real
I’m in this world standing right here
While your so-called savior stands by
Idle and bored somewhere in the sky
We’re flesh and blood
We’re flesh and blood
Happy Friday, everyone.
