The Big Takeover brings you the world music video premiere for “Quartermain & Victoria” by indie disco-punk brass band, Funkrust Brass Band. The video was produced by the award-winning Witching Hour Animation studio, whose distinctive style gives the digital animation a real world stop-motion animation feel.
The video’s narrative tells the story of a cyborg/psychic detective duo pursuing evil forces in a dystopian steampunk Neo-London, based on an original concept by Funkrust’s bandleader and composer Phil Andrews and lyrics by lead vocalist Ellia Bisker (also of goth-folk duo Charming Disaster). Directed by Summer Purks with animation director Katie Limentato, the video features rich character design and a detailed, lived-in environment.
“Quartermain & Victoria” is a track from the band’s 2024 album release, Make a Little Spark.
Funkrust Brass Band is a 20-piece NYC-based ensemble that features megaphone vocals, a percussion section, and full complement of trumpets, trombones, tubas and saxophones playing all original music. They have released three albums over their ten year existence, incorporating a wide range of influences into an immediately recognizable sound.
Funkrust Brass Band performs at rock clubs, festivals, parks, weddings, memorials and more in the NYC area and beyond.
