Scandinavian music is a treasure trove for new talent and Scandi transgender electro-pop duo Feel Freeze is an example of this, following in the footsteps of the likes of The Knife and Lykke Li. The musical pairing of Mathias Vinther Liholt and Raymonde Gaunoux has received praise for memorable live performances supporting artists like Thomas Dybdahl and Cymbals Eat Guitars.
Feel Freeze’s latest single, “Give Me Your Heart”, is a Work Drugs -esque indie electro-pop track with a touch of glo-fi. While the piece takes a different turn from the duo’s previous single, it completely confirms that Feel Freeze’s spectrum of sound is wide and varied, with “Brothertiger”, “Summer Heart”, and “Washed Out” carrying sonic similarities. Lyrically, the track gives out uplifting, feel-good vibes, including the lyrics, “You’re not asleep, you’re deeply awake” that make the listener feel like floating on a cloud of dreamy happiness.
The duo explains the nature of the video, directed by Anders Søgaard, for “Give Me Your Heart, which makes its debut here. ““Give Me Your Heart” is a love song. It’s about falling in love and indulging in love. But it’s also about listening to what others have to say with an open heart. In the video we wanted to express this openness with an invitation to smile with us, to share and to give. The video is made without a budget. We had a weekend, where Anders’ studio was vacant and we brought everything kitsch we could find in our homes. We wanted the video to bear influence from ’90s pop culture and boy-band vibes. Anders made the visuals with cream sprayed into water with a syringe. The vibe was very playful and the video ended up as a colourful visual expression of the song.”
“Give Me Your Heart” is released via Swedish label Icons Creating Evil Art and is available everywhere now.
