Portland, Oregon punk ‘n’ roll five-piece Guerrilla Teens return October 16 with Sympathy for the Decibel, a new EP on Sonic Jett Records and the latest chapter in a rock & roll story stretching back through decades of West Coast noise. Ahead of the EP, the band are premiering the official video for title track “Sympathy For The Decibel” with The Big Takeover.
Led by longtime songwriting partners Scott “Deluxe” Drake and Jeff Fieldhouse, both of Southern California garage-punk hellraisers The Humpers, Guerrilla Teens bring together musicians with deep roots in punk, garage and rock & roll on both sides of the California-Oregon divide. The current Portland lineup is completed by guitarist Saul Koll, drummer Tim Connolly and bassist Anna Andersen (The Lovesores, 8-Foot Tender, The Epoxies, The Suicide Notes).
Drake and Fieldhouse’s partnership goes back decades. Before Guerrilla Teens, they passed through Suicide Kings, The Humpers and The Lovesores together, with The Humpers taking their gloriously unvarnished collision of punk, garage and old-fashioned rock & roll from Long Beach bars to Epitaph Records and stages across the US and Europe.
Guerrilla Teens, however, were never intended as a reunion. The band came together in Portland during the COVID lockdown, when Drake and Fieldhouse started writing songs that were initially intended for an EP. There were enough songs, and apparently enough unfinished business, that another band made more sense.
Since then, Guerrilla Teens have carved out their own corner of the underground, pulling raw ’70s punk and garage rock into darker melodies, twin-guitar attack, stronger pop hooks and Andersen’s backing vocals. Following 2023’s Under the Dagger and 2025’s The Monkey’s Paw, Sympathy for the Decibel pushes that story forward with five new songs.
Sympathy for the Decibel arrives October 16, 2026 via Sonic Jett Records.
