After a much acclaimed EP called The Crystal Garden (2015), Mexican shoegaze alternative rockers Car Crash Sisters from Aguascalientes return with their debut album Sundance Sea which has a knack for the ‘90s and combines roaring alternative guitars with the ethereal attitude of dream pop/shoegaze minus its sedative character. The four-piece’s first single “In Another World”, however, is an increasingly hypnotic and intense experience with bright guitars and airy male/female vocals by Kique and Alma.
The band comment on the video for “In Another World”, which The Big Takeover premieres here: “After an animated video for “all my friends live underwater”, we decided to do something a bit more simple this time. We wanted to play in this lonely place (that happens to be the roof of our rehearsing room) and just be ourselves, nothing too fancy, like, just letting our music speak for itself. The first cut was more like a simple session, but John (bass) had the idea of making it look like “a forgotten VHS tape you find inside an old box” – or something like that. We also thought that adding some of the mistakes and dumb things we did during the shooting, was a good idea. We didn’t want to show this super dark/sad image some people think we try to project, in the end, we’re just a bunch of good friends having fun. We also got in trouble with this deranged man who lives in front of this place. He went and complained about the noise, he’s been trying to kick us out for too long – he hasn’t succeeded yet.”
