Wharton Tiers is best known as the producer and engineer of seminal albums by Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Helmet and scores more; or as drummer for Glenn Branca, Laurie Anderson and his own Wharton Tiers Ensemble, but he’s really a multi-instrumentalist who works in a wide range of styles, including solo piano, found-sound collage and this excursion into keyboard-driven space jams, created in the late ’80s at Tiers’ legendary Fun City studio in Manhattan and brought to light for the first time with the release of Flash In The Universe on Tiers’ own Fun City NYC label.
