“Mr. Moon” is about the mixture of joy, desire and hope in longing for something just out of reach. We may not be able to touch it, but the moon gives us its beauty and shine over and over again,” explains lead singer Deena Shoshkes.
The video created by Jon Fried and Shoshkes juxtaposes UFOs, astronauts and vintage NASA footage. “You’re up there with a halo of stars, I’m down here in my dented old car…” sings Shoshkes. Fried explains, “We tried to capture the silliness and wonder of the space program, the fantasy of flying saucers and the glory of our moon. Indifferent, moody and stunning, the moon shines upon us all as we look up with awe.” “Mr. Moon” is the second single from The Cucumbers’ Old Shoes mini-album.
