We’ve come to expect the unexpected from guitarist Arad Evans and his avant-folk ensemble Heroes Of Toolik, and this latest video is does not disappoint. Filmed on location at Seizures Palace Studio in Brooklyn by director of photography Kevin Bud Jones (with a team of shooters including former Band Of Susans guitarist Robert Poss), “Quincux” is a precisely orchestrated, nine-minute-plus opus that evokes minimalist composers like Steve Reich, Phillip Glass, and Terry Riley, with periodic nods to Charles Ives. Not your usual pop fare, to be sure, but isn’t that why you visit The Big Takeover? Expand your horizons and give this one a listen!
