“No matter who I ask to do my videos, they often end up have driving scenes in them,” confesses Sally Crewe. “I like to think it’s because the best place to listen to my music is behind the wheel, so the videos are like a serving suggestion: ‘Best enjoyed while driving’.
“I have to give the director, Matthew Colecchi, all the credit for this video,” added the Austin,Texas-based rocker. “The concept was his, as was the suggestion of Brian Hummel for the lead role, who was perfect — that’s even Brian’s cool old truck in the video.
“My favorite thing as a kid was to tag along on any possible car journey, and listen to music,” said the Yorkshire, England, native, whose 2003 debut was co-produced by Britt Daniel and Jim Eno of Spoon. “The motion made the music take flight, and it’s that same feeling I’ve been trying to capture in my own songs ever since. That feeling of progress, of looking forward to something, even if you don’t know what it is yet.”
“Satellite” is from Crewe’s new album, Later Than You Think, which comes out today. We’re looking forward to hearing the rest!
