Cincinnati, Ohio-based, retro punk revivalists The Tigerlilies create compelling garage nuggets that channel the best of late ’70s rock. Earlier this year they hit us with their explosive ‘punk pirate shanty’ “Shipwrecked” which was recently complimented by a swab of live footage featuring the band going to town in their rehearsal space. Oi! Or make that, Ahoy there, matey! It’s a joy to watch these fuzzy riffs come to life in the hands of the seasoned band members, which includes brothers Pat and Steve Hennessy, Brendan Bogosian, and Brian Driscoll.
The Tigerliles remain Cincinnati’s sole practitioners of the classic ‘post-punk power pop sound’, a style set forth by Buzzcocks, Cheap Trick, The Jam, and The Ramones.
The band has played countless shows over the years and attained a sizeable, appreciative following. They have served as support for Violent Femmes, Smithereens, Joan Jett, Paul Weller, and Guided By Voices, among others. In addition there have been tours of the South, East and Midwest as well as appearances at SXSW and NXNE and numerous other music festivals.
The Tigerlilies have myriad singles on Shake It, Violently Hip, Atavistic, and other labels, but most of their CDs have been released on Atavistic/*Truckstop* (Caroline distribution) from Chicago, including their debut Deeper, the widely acclaimed Space Age Love Songs, and Ceci N’est Pas Pop which was produced by the Afghan Whigs’ John Curley. They have self-released In Your Eyes and the retrospective Superdeluxe. Most recently was the release of In The Dark .
