Sanderlings is the musical ramblings of longtime DIY musician Woody Locke. A four-piece, ocean-themed pop-punk band out of Santa Barbara, CA, they started humbly as a solo project with Locke releasing a home-recorded EP in May 2016 and a 7″ vinyl in November of that year. Over the next two years, momentum was building as members solidified and the band set out to write its debut album. Sanderlings’ self-titled album is now set to be released June 8th on all steaming services, as well as on vinyl.

Locke (guitar, vocals) says of “Stories”, “This song has a life-imitates-art-imitates-life-again backstory. The story of the song is about me and my partner getting arrested on our first date. We jumped into an unmarked police car because, you know, it sounded fun, and it turns out that’s a bad idea. We spent the night in the tank for disorderly conduct. Fast-forward to making the music video, and I almost got busted again! I work at a theater, and I thought it would be rad to use the set I had worked so hard to build as a location to shoot our story. I’m an ‘ask forgiveness not permission’ kind of person, so I may have neglected to tell anyone in the management I would be there. Around 1AM an officer of the peace showed up and grilled us on what we were doing. Being a small town, he knew everyone I worked for and was not entirely sold on my story. We managed to convince him to leave us alone long enough to finish, but let’s just say the following Monday was a REAL FUN MORNING.”
