We love it when the music of a song is in stark contrast to its lyrics, and this catchy little number from the upcoming LP Shibboleth by NYC-based “intergalactic softcore pornstar rock outfit” Whitewash is a perfect example: a mellow, psychedelic groove-rock song about war, oppression and injustice.
The accompanying — and awesome — video is a perfect match: colorful and surrealistic, yet also disturbing. (Reminds us of Bruce Bickford’s brilliant work for Frank Zappa’s 1979 film “Baby Snakes”.) All parts of this video were made by Rafael Bonilla (artwork, directing, videography, editing); hats off to him!
Shibboleth comes out May 19 on the Sad Cactus label.
