Jangly indie-rockers Wide Orbit released their debut album Introducing… Wide Orbit last month off of 22TWENTY (Oracle Sisters, Cornelia Murr). After recording their album live in a small studio outside their home of Chicago, the jangly outfit captured a loose, youthful energy on the debut record. The Big Takeover is pleased to premiere Wide Orbit’s new music video for the songs “Soon / Good Morning” today.
The two songs are meant to be listened to as one piece, with the latter song being completely instrumental. The band’s friends Hannah Finnegan and T.J. Syndram created the new music video, matching the songs’ hypnotic sound through lo-fi and abstract video footage. While Wide Orbit embraces tight 60s pop-rock songwriting on one half of the record, the band explores psychedelic instrumentation and recording experimentation on songs like “Soon” and “Good Morning.”
Songwriter and vocalist Ryan Tuohy said of the video, “This video was shot by friends of ours, TJ Syndram and Hannah Finnegan. They tried to avoid ‘see/say’ videography, leaning more toward artful shots meant to make you connect the visuals to the lyrics in a really special way. Of the 3 music videos we’ve made, this is certainly the most serious, creative, and rewarding.”
Wide Orbit’s debut album Introducing… Wide Orbit is out now.
