Easy Tiger: Unleashing copacetic electronic/dance music during the pandemic

Hold up! Easy Tiger is here to kick-start your year with a refreshing new single. With enough negativity going around in the world, the Columbus, Ohio trio wants you to see the sunshine through the clouds with “Am I Getting Better At Feeling Good?” And it’s exactly the type of song to make you get up and shake a limb or two!

Easy Tiger is Jonathan Hayes (guitar, keys, vocals), Josh Wydick (bass), and Tyler Dunham (drums). Together, these three musicians make dance-rock that is accessible, catchy, and groovy. Awarded a grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, the band has used this support to record a followup to their self-titled EP. Working with producer Jakob Mooney, the band continued to hone their sound and make the best music possible.

“Am I Getting Better At Feeling Good?” shows Easy Tiger embracing positivity through vulnerability. With hints of ’80s nostalgia, the single invites listeners in with warm synthesizers and earworm vocal melodies. With Dunham and Wydick keeping a steady groove, Hayes builds up layers of vocals and guitar hooks. The title becomes a rallying cry, one that reminds us that it’s okay to admit we need improvement sometimes.

When thinking about this single, the band recalls, “This song really just kind of gets the record off to where it’s heading. It’s about wanting, and being lonely, [and] how we reach out and cope.” If this is where the record starts, I can’t wait to hear where it ends up! Listen to “Am I Getting Better at Feeling Good?” and get ready for Easy Tiger’s record coming soon!

Song lyrics for “Am I Getting Better at Feeling Good”:

Hold on, or let it go
Either or, more or most, we’ll take it slow
I’m not taking up your time
Unless it makes you mine
So go on,
If you’re out there, thinking I’m in the mood
For whatever? Am I getting better at feeling good?
Are you out there, thinking I’m in the mood
For whatever? Am I getting better at feeling good?
Am I getting better at feeling good?
Almost.
A little better every minute
Goal posts moved again but we’re still in it
Either to or from we run
I’d like to think we’d take it all
If we don’t stand a fighting chance
At least we’re getting better at feeling good.
Go on,
If you’re out there, thinking I’m in the mood
For whatever? Am I getting better at feeling good?
Are you out there, thinking I’m in the mood
For whatever? Am I getting better at feeling good?
