4fro Nick - Don't Waste My Time (LA mix) (self-released)

19 June 2026

Given that 4fro Nick is effortlessly able to blend funky grooves and acid-soaked blues guitars with bubbling synths and the sound of tight, modern production, I think he might have just created a new form of psychedelia, one high on life and totally in keeping with modern tastes. This new mix of “Don’t Waste My Time” seems to suggest so.

There is a wonderful balance of precision playing and wilful, well, not quite chaos but certainly density and depth, with Nick’s vocals sitting in the eye of that seductive and energetic storm. And rather than sounding like a purposeful act of creation, this neo-psych-funk-soul sound seems to fall naturally from the players’ instruments; like all great players, the music they make when the right combination comes together is more than the sum of its parts… much more.

But then 4fro Nick has had an eclectic journey through the world and the world of music, and perhaps understands its hidden secrets better than most. From the music of his childhood Crete to listening to gypsies performing on the Venetian cobbles, and from time spent in New York City to the eclecticism of his adopted home of LA. it would seem that he is truly a worldly troubadour, allowing the humble sounds he has gathered over the years to take flight in a more modern musical form.

While you can hear all the modern trappings, electric guitar, synths mimicking beautiful brass stabs, pianos cascading, and groovesome bass and intriguing beats, at the song’s heart, you can just hear the echo of timeless dances and joyous celebrations too.

The instruments might have changed, but 4fro Nick still understands the real and honest reasons why we make music, and why we have always made music and why we always will.
