Well into a fifth decade as a great American band, Los Lobos never had to worry about aging gracefully. The Los Angeles quintet’s flavorful blend of rock’n’roll, r’n’b, blues, Chicano and other sounds has always had a timeless feel that goes down easy in any era. On the charming Native Sons, the group covers a diverse set of songs from its hometown, including Jackson Browne’s beautiful “Jamaica Say You Will,” the Blasters’ rollicking “Flat Top Joint,” the Beach Boys’ wistful “Sail On, Sailor” and Thee Midnighters’ sizzling “Love Special Delivery.” As usual, the playing is earthy and precise, and the vocals of David Hidalgo (tender) and Cesar Rosas (swaggering) complement each other perfectly. Long may they run.
