The awe-struck ambience of Pennsylvania’s Stargazer Lilies return faithfully with a new single and news of a new album. Due for release on November 1st, Occabot will be the Lillies follow-up proper to 2017’s Lost. And the teaser “Living Work Of Art” is exactly that, an insight of cool shoegaze, pointing to the work audiences can expect. Leaving you craving more addictive sounds, more extremities of melodic bliss, hidden behind the echoes of chunky guitar, it is fairer to say it is an adventure more than a song.
By the quaking wall of atmospheric noise, it becomes apparent that the duo of John Cep and Kim Field have lost none of their ambition to push forward with both sound and ideas. The track opens up within a world of fuzz-driven elegance, as the voice of Field is a solitary guiding light in the darkness of distortion. “Living Work Of Art” lives up to its name, hypnotising all in the area of its transmission. The forthcoming album, produced by Tom Fec (Black Moth Super Rainbow), adds an extra charge to the music, indeed Fec signed the band to his Rad Cult imprint. With the fruits of that labour already giving us this piece of work, the full album should be a dynamic and intense listen.
