Here we have four songs by a mysterious band that make me scratch my head – I mean, are they going for a sound, or are they ultra-right nationalists espousing RAC ideologies? Ultimately, it doesn’t matter, as I’m here to judge the music, not the politics.
So, if you’re into heavy oi street punk, this is a slab of vinyl you won’t want to miss. The songs are energetic blasts of nasty skinhead hardcore with some innovative instances of NWOBHM influences, i.e., I’m not sure if there are two vocalists (as there are no band members’ names given and only stark black & white photos like the one above for reference), but there seems to be one guy – the “lead vocalist” with the gravelly skinhead oi voice – and then the other guy, who’s clearly influenced by Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford, adding to the simplistic, but sharp, stabbing guitar solos that provide the English ’80s metal feel, both of which blend beautifully in the EP’s Led Zeppelin-ish closer, “Heart of Fire and Stone.” I have to say, I’m mightily impressed by these four songs, as they make me want to drink beer and kick my steel-toed boot through my door just for fun, e.g., the mark of any really good street punk band.
Did I mention that the 7” is already out of print?
Crap…
