Beranger - Signal (self-released)

16 October 2026

It’s been a while since Beranger crossed my path. I remember him as one half of a duo playing to not-insignificant crowds in Berlin parks, though I’m sure I saw them in the UK too…I might be wrong, like I say, it’s been a while. Anyway, the sound was pretty impressive then, but now that fundamental platform of piano, vocals, and drums has been augmented by guitar and bass, and what was big is still big… but also dramatic and anthemic and writ large – a beast of a rocker blending the alternative with the artistic, the contemporary with the classical.

Piano-driven alternative rock sits in a fairly niche corner of the musical landscape, but when you hear how effectively Beranger blends such keyboard grace with grungier guitars, pulsing bass, thunderous beats, and dexterous lead breaks, and marvel at the results, you wonder why more people haven’t attempted such a fusion. But I guess if it were that easy, more people would have attempted such meetings of musical minds.

But it isn’t easy, and it is Beranger’s ability to creatively collide these sonic worlds that gives the band such a singular sound, one where cool blends of muscle and melody combine so that ‘Signal’ really stands out from the rock pack.

Wandering between the symphonic and the sophisticated, the gritty and groovesome, ‘Signal’ ticks a lot of boxes, and I suspect it will appeal to everyone from the most earnest metalheads to those who appreciate the finer and more finessed sounds, a sound that would suit the most ornate concert halls and the scuzzyist alternative clubs and everything and everywhere in between.
