We all get knocked down from time to time, but it is about how you style it out, what you do next, and how you reclaim your space that is the all-important factor.
‘One Shot’ blends nu-disco groove with a slight country-pop vibe, dancefloor day-glo sonic hues with sassy lyrical imagery; it puts extra sparkle in the rhinestones, makes the click of those line-dancing boots even more rythmic; it reminds us that country music doesn’t always have to be about moody cowboys with their trusty dog and pickup truck driving off into the sunset; it can also be…well, this…music that sits between the lonesome high and the let’s all get down and boogie.
Pianos pound away, time signatures jump and jive, pace meets poise, neon lights flash, and dancefloors are filled; it’s an anthem to the idea that the best revenge is to just be yourself and be successful by whatever terms you decide, and that we should never give up on our dreams. It is also a clarion call to having a good time.
