BLOCK - Over And Over (Meridian (ECR Music Group))

31 January 2026

Once you realise that “Over and Over” is, at least in part, BLOCK addressing his own battles with OCD, the repetitive, dense, dark, and claustrophobic soundscape he has built here makes sense. Its strange, off-kilter vibe, and its questioning, soul-searching nature, also match where he was emotionally when he made it. It is more than a song, rather a diary entry, not only of the day this song was made, but a summation of all such days that the condition has forced him to deal with.

Helping to add to this sense of dislocation and bewilderment, as well as to the internal monologue, is BLOCK’s decision to apply a spoken-word vocal to the song rather than the more conventional singing of the previous single, “I Thought I Won the War.” And rightly so, as this approach is the icing on the sonic cake.

This is the second single ahead of his new album Love Crash, and when taken together with the previous, we have a compelling brace of songs. Both are different, not just from each other, but certainly in the case of “Over and Over”, from anything else around. That alone should be reason enough for discerning music listeners to add thist forthcoming album to their, probably already exhaustive, wish list…and undoubtedly in a space somewhere near the top.
