Castle - Under Siege (Prosthetic)

Thank Lucifer classic heavy never goes out of style. Otherwise Castle might get lost in the shuffle of death/doom/black/grind/etc. iterations of speaker-shredding riffola. On Under Siege, the San Fran band’s third LP, Castle dispenses with notions of genre and concentrates solely on being straight-up good: Mat Davis perfectly balances ribcage-battering riffchunk with melodic roar, while Liz Blackwell wraps her leather lungs around the licks like a python around prey. “Temple of the Lost,” “Pyramid Lake” and the rampaging “Distant Attack” throw horns and bruise amps with passion, precision and power.
