FATECRIMES - wanderlust (self-released)

22 March 2026

“Yesterday, we said tomorrow we fly!”

What a great line, one loaded with that timeless reminder that we need to get out in the world and, in doing so, find out who we are. It’s a song of escapism, as the title had already tipped you off, suggesting that if you stay in the comfort zones of familiarity, you only get to explore one possible version of yourself, and by traveling the world, we can seize the opportunity to evolve and invent, explore and entertain every and any possibility of who and what you might be. As a wise man once said, “It is better to travel well than it is to arrive.”

Taken from their forthcoming album, As Above/So Below, “wanderlust” is a cool blend of funky, shuffling indie-soul licks and more robust rock energy, a heady combination of groove and grace. And it is even more sophisticated than I make it sound, because the guitar work is delivered via deft riffs and finger-picked textures, the drums are a dance track in their own right, and the vocals are gorgeously addictive and never overplayed.

So, you have your soundtrack to adventure, but where to go! It doesn’t matter, wherever you go, there you are… waiting to be fleshed out, coloured in and brought to life – a brand new take on the same old you. Just grab your passport and head off over that hill, you never know what awaits you, nor who you might be when you finally find your way back home!
