Fred Presley - My Greatest Disaster (self-released)

16 June 2026

Regrets, he’s had a few… as the song suggests, and “My Greatest Disaster” is about exactly that. The song is a confessional, as the narrator bares all and apologizes for the way he treated the one who got away. Time might heal, but that is still is no excuse, and even if she forgives, that doesn’t mean she’ll forget.

It takes a brave man to admit he blew it, a braver man to admit he was the one totally in the wrong and acting unkindly, but Fred Presley or at least the character he portrays here, is a brave man.

Blending classic American roots sounds, bluegrass pep, folky finesse, country groove, and honest, authentic singer-songwriter vibes, this is a song of contrast – the music upbeat and full of acoustic groove, the lyrics soul-bearing and sad. Groove and regret dance together. But then this part of the musical map is full of such music – the high lonesome sound of the cowboy driving off into the night, folksome tales of love, loss, and longing, mountain music murder ballads – and “My Greatest Disaster” slips alongside the best of those styles with ease.

Honesty is the best policy, facing your mistakes is the honorable thing, and here the sense of regret is palpable.
