Heddy Edwards - Cinematic Vision (self-released)

1 March 2026

The aptly titled “Cinematic Vision” is the perfect example of why the realm of indie-pop is such an effective place to make music. While some argue that it is neither one nor the other, I would argue that the opposite is true. By embracing the qualities of both, you can bring a robust, more deft sonic approach to pop, and similarly imbue indie with the infectiousness and melody often lacking.

Heddy Edwards gives us a master class in how you write a song with a foot in each camp, a song that can employ light and chiming melodies but also big driving riffs…and do so without seeming to really change gear, at least do so without anyone noticing an obvious shift. It’s a song whose dynamic makes it deeper rather than bigger, one not built on pace but poise, as much on groove as grace.

And although it echoes with the spirit of iconic singer-songwriters of the past, Sheryl Crow and Aimee Mann certainly spring to mind, it is nothing if not forward-thinking and perfect for the here and now.

There is also a lot of depth in the lyrics, reflecting on looking for the silver linings in life, noticing the sun after the rain (both metaphorically and literally), and understanding that while life can be full of dark chapters, there is also always something to celebrate. It is, in short, a song of hope, and when did we ever not need that in our lives?
