Jack's Maze - The Edge (RPM Entertainment)

29 October 2026

Jack’s Maze return with “The Edge,” the second single from their forthcoming album Once In A Blue Moon, due in January 2027 via RPM Entertainment. Written by vocalist and drummer Frank Cinquegrana after the sudden death of guitarist Bill Snyder, the song arrives from a band whose recent history has already involved disappearance, return and unfinished music.

That history matters here. Jack’s Maze first emerged as Laughing Jack around the New York tri state scene in the early 1990s, completing Life In The Maze in 1993 before the record was shelved. Nearly thirty years later, the band reunited, returned to that material and finally released the album in 2024. There is something unusual about building a second life for a band whose first chapter never properly reached its conclusion. “The Edge” confronts the harder limit of that recovery: music can be retrieved, recordings can be finished and a band can begin again, but the people who once occupied that history cannot always be brought back with it.

Cinquegrana has described the song as a call to Snyder, asking whether he can hear the band continuing without him. The regret inside that idea is more complicated than a straightforward memorial. He is singing toward someone who cannot answer, while carrying the knowledge that there were things he wishes he had said or done before Snyder died. During the writing, those thoughts also led him back to Jack’s Maze’s first lead guitarist, Jimmy Gentilin, who had died by suicide years earlier.

The losses begin to accumulate around the song. What starts as an address to one former bandmate becomes entangled with another, and Jack’s Maze’s history begins to include people who can now only be reached through memory and music. That gives the decision to keep recording under the same band name a different weight. Continuing does not erase who is missing from the story.

Musically, “The Edge” stays within the broad classic and progressive rock language Jack’s Maze have carried since their earliest years. Cinquegrana sings over Robin Ross’s keyboards, Scott Cowan’s guitar and Joe Torres’ bass, with a broad arrangement built around the vocal and the song’s central refrain.

“The Edge” cannot complete the conversation it begins. That is part of what gives it meaning within the band’s return. Life In The Maze could eventually be recovered from the past and given the release it had been denied. Snyder and Gentilin cannot be restored in the same way. The song sits inside that difference.

There is something personal in Cinquegrana choosing to address Snyder through Jack’s Maze itself. He is speaking to someone who once stood inside the same musical life, then continuing that life without him. “The Edge” becomes part tribute and part unfinished conversation, with the band carrying forward words that can no longer receive an answer.

Music for “The Edge” was written by Frank Cinquegrana, Robin Ross, Scott Cowan and Joe Torres, with lyrics by Cinquegrana. Cinquegrana performs vocals and drums, Ross plays keyboards, Cowan provides guitar and background vocals, and Torres plays bass. The track was recorded at Baa Baa Leaf Studio in Milford, Pennsylvania, and produced, recorded and mixed by Robin Ross, with Jonathan Duckett serving as supervising engineer. The video was produced by Tina Ross.

“The Edge” is out now via RPM Entertainment, released October 20. Once In A Blue Moon arrives in January 2027.
